Snow Day

Well I would have never imagined that I would get the day off for snow in Baton Rouge, LA. It snowed this morning and total chaos broke loose. Schools were cancelled, roads and bridges closed, and I got the day off from clinic. How wonderful!! It was fun to watch all the kids outside throwing snowballs, making angels and snowmen. These kids have never seen snow! I was excited that we had the snow, even though it only stayed around for a few hours. Being from Idaho, it's very hard getting into the Christmas spirit when it is 70 degrees outside. Well today it was 30 and snowing. Couldn't get much better. Unfortunately, it will be back up to 70 by the weekend, but I enjoyed the day while I had it. This year has just flown by, I can't believe the holidays are here already. I have a little 3 foot tree that I have decorated. I'm waiting until we move into a house before I do anything bigger. It's cute and since we don't have kids yet, it works for us.

November already...

So it's been a few weeks since I've written. Not too much is happening, just working. This month is a full and busy month for us. First, we are very excited about our new President. We need a positive change and I hope we can all come together and head in that direction. What a historical election!!

Joe and I are super excited as we are going to a Hornets vs. Heat game this weekend. He has some great clients who give us their season tickets when they are out of town. Great benefits! I will have to post some pics after we get back. Also this month at the residency program we are starting a community wide event called "Walk with a Doc." Our goal is to get our patients out moving, and while they are excercising they can have the opportunity to talk about any medical issues. I think the concept is great, and I hope we can positively impact some of our patients and community members.

We are also going away for a weekend to a campground. Yes, you are able to camp in Nov. in Louisiana. Our entire residency group is headed off for a weekend retreat with our families. We get out of call, which is greeeaaat!! But also it will be a great time for team building and bonding. Got to love those sessions! Again I will have to post some pics.

Other than that I'm looking forward to the holidays. I am on call Thanksgiving, but that's ok. Someone has got to take care of all those people who eat too much!!

Running

So here I am with my chielf resident Karla, and Sue one of our superstar interns!!

Below is the group who participated. Some of which included residents, some faculty, and most of Karla's family!! Go Baton Rouge General!!

Below from L to R is Sue, Dr. Shaw one of our faculty, me, Joe, and Dr. Labruzzo another faculty. What a crew!!

I know it's been awhile since I've posted and I really have no excuse. A bunch of residents and staff at our program are starting to train for a 1/2 marathon that we are going to run during Mardi Gras. We started off this past weekend with running in an Alzheimer's fundraising run. We ran 3.2 miles, which was great. My goal was less than 35:00 and I did it in 33:50. I was ok with this as I have been suffering from shin splints and didn't get to run as much as I had wanted prior to the race. Oh well, it was fun and our time went towards a great cause. Otherwise not a whole lot going on. I was on call all weekend so it went by too fast and I didn't get to see my hubby much. I'm glad he ran with me in the race.

Idaho trip

As I promised here are some pics from our trip home. It was an eventful week and we had a ball. And yes, I did have Beej cut my hair off and I'm loving it. It's such much easier and more fun than long hair!! Dad got a Harley for his 55th B-day and him and mom are LOVING IT!! They are so cute! I was afraid to get on but once I did I figured out why they enjoyed it so much. I had a ball!! Thanks for not scaring me dad!

Here is the little dare devil! He really rides

this thing like a pro. I am so suprised at how

coordinated he is. He even rips through small

areas, like between the vehicles without a

problem. Future motor cross racer I'm afraid!
Uncle Joey and Aunt Dee-Dee babysat one night so mommy and daddy could go on a date. We took the kids to artic circle, we had to have our fix and then over to Heidi and Corey's to play with Hannah and Brady. They had a blast! We then brought them home and here is bath time.
So to the left is a scary pic of Aunt Dee-Dee. We volunteered to watch Aiden one early morning while Ryan and Tarrna took Cohen to get school all figured out. He is in speech therapy and gets to go to a special class for that. Anyhoo, we got out of bed and went straight over. Such an early morning beauty!!

Mom and dad took my brother, his wife and us to Dietrich to some hole in the wall for dinner. It was pretty good food, but poor Joe. Talk about country!!

Here are my little gremlins at the fair! They were such little boys! Trying to see how everything worked. It was hard to get a good picture of them.

Here is my brother and his wife with the kids riding Cohen's tractor. G-pa says it's time to move on to a 4-wheeler. Oh boy!!
Here is my baby Aiden! He's getting sooooo big! G-ma had him looking like a little weirdo because the wind was blowing and she didn't want him to get an earache. He's ready to head to the field to work!

Another bath time picture of Cohen. He is such a little trouble maker!! I guess that's what little 3 yr old boys do!!

Hurricane central!!

Hello All!! So we could not have planned our vacation during a better time. Joe and I escaped Hurricane Gustav, thank goodness! Baton Rouge is still a mess and many people are still without power. Our clinic just opened up this week and our main hospital is now with power as well. Talking with the other residents it sounds like last week was completely miserable! I am so glad to have missed it.
We spent the last week in Idaho and had an absolutely wonderful time. We spent a lot of time seeing and babysitting our nephews. They are getting soooo big and they continue to be as cute as ever. It was also great to see my parents, they are so fun to be with. We saw a lot of friends, but unfortunately did not get to see everyone. I apologize to all of you. 8 days goes quickly and it's hard to visit all the fam and friends. We will shoot for next time.
Well I will get some pics up here in the next few days to show off the little cutie pies! Hope all is well with everyone!

Sporadic Blogger!!

So I know it's been awhile, but big surprise life is crazy as usual. It's working nights that is killing me. I am almost finished, 8 more nights!! Joe and I are looking forward to coming home to Idaho Aug 30-Sept 7. We will get to go to the fair and rodeo, poor Joe hopefully he will come to enjoy it as much as I do. I am thrilled to see my nephews who are getting so big! Cohen is about to turn 3 (Aug 21) and Aiden is now 17 months. I have missed out on so much of there lives. I am blessed to do what I do, but I have definitely made so many sacrifices. I know many of my friends as well as family members will vouch for that. Well I wanted to at least give a little update and I will definitely have more fun pics to come soon. I hope that all is well with everyone!

The view from our hotel room! We could not have asked for a better view, it was awesome!!
We went to the Dole plantation on our tour around the island.
Another shot on our tour! The water and sand is so beautiful!
This was a famous snorkeling place where the water was so clear. From where we were standing we could see sea turtles, and different colored fish. I'm sure that being in the water and snorkeling was very cool! My baby unfortunately isn't a swimmer, so we bypassed the snorkeling on this trip.

Hawaii

This was our gorgeous hotel! If anyone ever goes to Honolulu, the Hilton Hawaiian Village is a must!!

So here we are! Aren't we cheesy. Of course I was super pale when I went, so I got sunburned and looked like a tomato most of the trip.
It was so hot, we took lot's of little breaks to have some yummy shaved ice!

Some pics from our Hawaii trip

Ok so I have finally gotten around to getting some of the pics from our trip! It was so beautiful! Gosh, I wish I were back there now. Our hotel was a huge resort and there were tons of ponds like this one right outside of our building.

Long days and nights!

So I'm currently at work with some down time so I decided to play around with this blogging. I think I'm getting a little bit better. I gotta work on putting up more pics. Anyhoo, we will be coming home to Twin Falls for a visit the first week of September. I can't wait!! I haven't seen my nephews since last October, so it's long over due!! Hopefully we will get to see a lot of our friends back home.

Things here in Louisiana are hot and humid! While working nights, I actually only get to see Joe on the weekends. It's tough, but we have been through much worse. I only have 25 more nights to go!! I will have to post after the weekend as Joe is teaching a circuit class for all the residents, faculty, and staff at the residency program. This will be a hoot! Everyone is super excited now, but they will be hating Joe by Sunday evening when they can't move. I will try to get some pics and post them.

Ok, well back to work.

So I said I would write much sooner but life is currently hectic. Our trip to Hawaii was wonderful! Did not want to come home. I will definitely start getting some pics posted. Right after coming home from Hawaii I had to work ER shifts and study for my Step III boards. What a joy! Thanks goodness, I finished that last week. I am now working nights for the next 7 weeks, so I'm trying to get adjusted. I am going to try and work on this blogging in the mean time.

New at this

So I have been reading everyone's blogs and figured what the heck, I need to set one up so we can share things with our friends who don't live nearby. I am not very good at this, but I will eventually get the hang of it. We are leaving for a trip to Hawaii for our first anniversary so I will have some fun updated photos to share. I uploaded a few photos of Joe and I, and of course some of my brother, his wife and their two adorable boys. I have plenty more!! Can't wait to get the hang of this!!
